Gurus are mainly of two types :
1. Shastriya Gurus
2. Ashastriya Gurus
The one who attained self-realisation and who can cause it to others is known as Shastriya Guru or Living Guru.Getting vibuthi, sweets, gold and shiva lingas are all deeds of miscellaneous gurus(Ashastriya Gurus). So be careful."

Gautam Buddha(siddartha) founder of buddhism. Initially he was a king with lot of luxuries. Finding no peace in those earthly pleasures, he left the kingdom to find real peace and happiness and attained self realisation by doing meditation day and night for 7yrs.
